Storyline

This series is the story of a brilliant teenage girl Pip (Emma Mayers) who is still in school and about to go to college. But in the final year of school, Pip’s topic for EPQ is Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies), a missing girl who had disappeared five years ago and her boyfriend Sal Singh (Rahul Pattni) had committed suicide. Sal Singh, who has taken responsibility for the disappearance of Andie Bell and has committed suicide, his brother Ravi (Zain Iqbal) and his family consider him innocent. Even Pip did not agree that Sal Singh could do this, because Sal Singh was Pip’s senior and he had never seen Sal Singh and Andie fighting. For this reason, Pip agrees to do this investigation, for which she takes help from Sal’s brother Ravi. Pip begins an investigation into Sal and Andie’s four friends, who are very close to him. The first name on the list is Naomi (Yasmin Al-Khudhairi), who is the sister of Pip’s friend Cara (Asha Alice Banks), a little younger than Naomi, who takes Pip to Sal’s other friend, Max Hastings (Henry Ashton).

Max Hastings’s revelations take Pip to a drug party, where Pip meets a drug dealer. Which gives Pip very important information related to Andie. Pip somehow goes to Andie Bell’s house to verify what the drug dealer said, where she finds out that the drug dealer’s words were true. At Andie Bell’s house, Pip finds a document that points towards a hotel, after going there Pip and Ravi somehow manage to get the visitor’s book of that hotel. Pip also meets Andie’s best friend Nat, who tells her that Andie was in a relationship with someone other than Sal Singh. Here Pip begins to think that maybe he has found Andie’s killer and that the investigation is nearing its end, but then Pip again meets Naomi and finds out that there may be a connection to Andie’s disappearance.

The incident that Pip learned about from Naomi is related to Naomi’s father who is also Pip’s English teacher. One by one, everyone’s truth seems to be revealed which is quite shocking, Pip’s parents also worry about her and ask her to stop the investigation, but Pip regrets something, this is forcing us to remain in the investigation. During this investigation, Pip and Ravi become close, and Pip also has to face mental challenges which are too much for her considering her age.

Now the thing to be seen is how Pip reaches the real killer after facing all the challenges, and after doing all this she comes across what kind of secrets which are shocking even for her.

Conclusion

This series is one of the few good series available on Netflix, while watching this series, in the beginning till the first two episodes it seems to be moving at a very slow pace but suddenly from the third episode you start facing different twists. This series has been directed by different directors but at any point you will not feel that the story is breaking somewhere in between. After the fourth episode, you will feel at every point that this is Andie’s murderer, but then something else happens that forces you to think. This series does not spare you the opportunity to finish, even in the last episode when you are completely sure that the real culprit has been found but even then you are proved wrong. It is not that this series is correct on every point, the climax of the series is a weak point of the entire series where the way Andy is shown to die does not seem appealing in any way. The discussion shown between Sal Singh and Andie in the last episode makes it difficult to guess why Andie and Sal need so much money. Pip says something to Max at the end of the same episode, it seems that this story will continue further, but it is difficult to understand any reason to take this series further. This series of 6 episodes always succeeds in keeping you hooked, and there are many surprises in between, Emma Myers playing the role of lead character Pip, plays the role of a teenage girl very well who is always running in front of questions. Yes, Ravi’s character is also good but the way he is shown helping Pip, there is no real need for him. Andy has a very small role and is seen in the same shot in every episode.
